Blurst shields?

I remember at least once in the game getting a blurst shield from a ship. It was obviously extremely rare, though. Can anybody else confirm this? VDOgamez 17:41, January 8, 2010 (UTC)

Blurst sheilds; their Characteristics and Their Strategic Uses

Blurst sheilds are reflective; lasers, and torpedos bounce off of them at angles relative to the angle of incidence. It seems that they do absorb some damage, and that modules attached to them will also take some damage. I'm not sure how they handle ramming spikes, but I suspect they are vulnerable to them.

• Confirming your suspicion on ramming spikes. I was half-destroyed by a stray ram ship. Add lasers to deal with them effectively. (Bubble shields are NOT effective when encountering multi-spike rams, as only one is used per hit if the target component is destroyed!) LunaticNeko 02:09, May 10, 2012 (UTC)

A huge strategic use for blurst sheilds is in fighting against a ship with bubble sheilds (the large white circular energy-barriers). Weapons bounced of blurst sheilds will penetrate the bubble sheilds of the ship that fired them. This can effectively disable the offensive capacities of a ship that might otherwise be invulnerable.
