Attention: Inspector

If you have successfully viewed this page: welcome to the the Captain Forever Wiki! This is a collaborative website about the "Captain Forever" series of games
developed by Farbs that anyone can edit! It is currently quite barebones, which is why we need help and contributions from users like you
to make it awesome! Make this dream of a wiki for this great series of indie games a reality!

Captain Forever

Captain Forever is a Flash game created by Farbs, based around a spaceship with re-constructive capabilities. The player can take parts from destroyed ships
and use them to assemble their own ship. For a fee, users used to be able to support the Captain series in order to receive special benefits, like early game betas and more.

With the supporter program closed and Flash deprecated, the suggested way to play all Captain Forever games is through the Captain Forever Trilogy on Steam.
Alternatively, the original version of Forever can be played via BlueMaxima's Flashpoint.

Captain Successor

Captain Successor is the sequel to Captain Forever. It is similar to the previous game, but also adds many more types of modules, enemy ships, and other things.

Captain Impostor

Captain Impostor is the sequel to Captain Successor. It has the same modules as Captain Successor, but has an entirely new gameplay mechanic:
instead of manually adding modules to your ship, you must use the "Clone Drive," which allows you to perfectly copy the configuration of an enemy ship.
As you destroy enemy ships, your clone drive gains energy, which will allow you to increase the level of all modules that you copy.

Captain Forever Trilogy

Captain Forever Trilogy is a standalone remake, bundling modernized versions of the Captain Forever, Successor and Imposter games together.
It was released on Steam on May 22, 2018.

Captain Forever Universe

Captain Forever Universe is the next episode of Captain Forever. It deviates from the linear progression of the previous games with more long-term strategic (rogue-like) gameplay
whilst maintaining classic combat mechanics.

The gameplay focuses on players traveling through sectors of space, encountering various types of space stations, asteroid fields, and features many new systems such as an economy.

The first alpha version of Captain Jameson was released to supporters on May 30, 2011. In late 2013, the game was re-titled as The Dawn Star,
before being reversed to Jameson in 2019. Development was publicly resumed on November 26th, 2021 with a build being made public
to owners of Captain Forever Trilogy on December 3rd shortly after.
The game was officially reintroduced as Captain Forever Universe on February 2nd, 2022 and has received continuous support since then.

Spinoff games

Captain Foraxian

Captain Foraxian is a demake of Captain Forever released on New Year's Eve 2010, to tide over fans who were waiting for the
(then-in-development) initial release of Jameson; the game is a Namco-style shoot-em-up
with simple graphics. There are currently 4 variants:

  • The original version, having a progressive wave system and regenerating lives.
  • Foraxian EX, a standalone Windows version released on December 21st, 2012.
    • Overall more unforgiving than the original, albeit with a counterbalance in the form of Reflex Assist. Only supporters have access to this build.
  • A version exclusive to the Winnitron 1000, with unknown changes (see here @ 0:34).
  • A version that was sold on the Xbox Live Indie Gaming marketplace beginning on October 18th, 2012.
    • Archived store page here; no longer sold as of October 7th, 2017.
  • A fifth variant which further alters the mechanics towards vector gameplay, considered to be the most difficult iteration yet.

Captain Forever Remix

Captain Forever Remix is a remake of the original Captain Forever, released on June 3, 2016.
Alongside being a total overhaul of the original game, it recontextualizes the story within the imagination of a young schoolgirl
living out her favorite Saturday morning cartoon in the mid-1980s. Many new ship parts and supplementary game mechanics are also added.
The game was last updated in 2018/9 for GDPR compliance.

Captain Together

Captain Together is a shared-screen multiplayer build of Captain Successor, added to Captain Forever Trilogy on May 5th 2020.
Up to four players can play together in local multiplayer, sharing one keyboard and mouse; it can also be done via Steam Remote Play.
